Trust God More

Life teaches us many lessons but few things gives us as much growth as experience. We learn from it continuously. We can look back at our younger selves and think “if only I knew then what I know now”. So if you had the opportunity to travel back in time, what advice would you give yourself?

A few years ago I was going through a tough time and was on a roller coaster of emotions. On the one hand I had my faith in my Almighty Father whom I knew was in control but on the other hand I was overwhelmed by fear of my reality and fear for my future. James 1:6 talks about a person who doubts who is like a wave of the sea blown and tossed by the wind. I look back and I can see myself as this wave. What advice would I give myself if I could travel back to that time? It’s simple, I would tell myself to trust God more.

Although it was a very tough time, the experience taught me a invaluable lesson. That God hears my cries for help, that He has a plan and that all things truly work together for good to them that love God (Romans 8:28). I might have been like a wave tossed by the wind, but Jesus came and calmed the sea.

In Isaiah 43:2 He promises that “when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Regardless of what is going on in your life today, I challenge you to trust God more.
