On Journaling

People keep journals for various reasons.  Whether you write your thoughts down or you recall things that have happened or whether you write down scriptures that God gives you or your prayer requests, journaling is enjoyed by many.

Personally, I love looking through my journal to see all the prayer requests that I have made and then see how many of those prayers have been answered.  For some of them the answers came quickly, for some it took more time and for others I am still praying for.  But the answered prayers remind me of how faithful God has been in the past and that I can therefore trust Him with my future.  I recently listened to a sermon by Dharius Daniels where he says that faith seems illogical until you look at how faithful God has been in the past, then suddenly doubting God seems illogical.  And writing down the times God has been faithful becomes a collection of beautiful testimonies.

Various times in the Bible do we find that God instructs people to write down His promises. In Jeremiah 30:2 we read: “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you.”.  And in Habakkuk 2:2 we read “Then the LORD said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.”.   If people didn’t write down what God did for them, we wouldn’t have the Bible! Journaling ensures that the stories of His faithfulness gets told from generation to generation. And it helps us to keep trusting in God!

Happy journaling to all!

Blessings
